In 1987, Yamaguchi, an ordinary high school student in a provincial city, meets Ube. Their common ground is anime. For a young man who loves anime and lives in the countryside, having a friend with whom he can share conversations about it becomes something irreplaceable. They meet up late at night to line up for the premiere of "Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise" and organize a "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" viewing party after school. Before they know it, the two of them start on the path to becoming professional animators.
