Five-year-old Daigoro was arrested for the crime of attacking someone with a sword inside Edo Castle. The shogun was sympathetic to Daigoro for saving the shogunate from crisis, but opinions within the shogunate were sharply divided on whether to spare his life or sentence him to death. The Shogun banished him to the underground labyrinth of Edo Castle called "Danjō".
